Yoruba has been charged by the Aare Ona Kakanfo designate, Otunba Gani Adams to uphold and promote the tradition and culture of Yoruba race. He made the statement, when he paid a courtesy visit to the Olowa of Igbara-Oke kingdom, Oba (Dr.) Francis Adefarakanmi Agbede, Ilufemiloye, (Ogidi III), at his palace in Igbara-Oke, Headquarters of Ifedore Local Government.
He said the role of culture and tradition in the sustenance of peace and unity cannot be over emphasized. He said Yoruba has rich cultural heritage and there is need for true Yoruba sons and daughters to tap from this. “There are many lessons we can learn by promoting the socio-cultural heritage of our land, irrespective of our religions.”
He said the place of religion is important, but we should not also neglect the culture and traditional heritage that we inherited from our forefathers. “This does not stop us from practicing our religion.” He said.
The Aare Ona Kakanfo designate said the responsibilities of his new office are enormous. According to him, “my goal is to unite every Yoruba race wherever they in every part of the world.”He said his dream is to see a united Yoruba nation with one voice.
While appreciating the Olowa of Igbara-Oke kingdom, Oba (Dr.) Francis Adefarakanmi Agbede, Ilufemiloye, (Ogidi III), Otunba Adams said his visit is to receive royal blessings from Oba Agbede. He said Oba Adefarakanmi Agbede is one of the Obas he revered most in Yoruba land, and one of the six Obas he was scheduled to visit in Ondo State during his tour. He said Oba Agbede has distinguished himself to be a royal father who believes in the unity and oneness of Yoruba race.
In his remarks, the Olowa of Igbara-Oke Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Francis Adefarakanmi Agbede, again congratulated the Aare Ona Kakanfo designate, he said this new office is the product of his steadfastness, dedication and determination towards a united Yoruba nation. He said he should see this new office as way of doing more continually to unite every sons and daughters of Oodua all across the world. While blessing the new Aare Ona Kakanfo, he also enjoined all Yoruba traditional rulers to support him in the course of discharging his duties as Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land.
